Practical example of compressed air balancing

Compressed air is produced by compressors and is one of the most expensive energy sources, typically costing €0.03 per m3 (about 20 times more expensive than electricity). A common measurement task in industrial companies is therefore the precise balancing of compressed air with the connected consumers/production departments. The most important parameter here is air volume measurement, the accuracy of which plays a decisive role in billing reliability.

The solution from systec Control: The deltaflow dynamic pressure probe

deltaflow DF25 dynamic pressure probes were installed in the individual pipes of the supply network. Thanks to their PtB-tested measuring accuracy of up to 0.4%, they are the ideal system for reliable volume measurement. Unlike the thermal flowmeters sometimes used, the deltaflow is not susceptible to drift and requires no maintenance. Billing reliability is therefore fully guaranteed even after months and years. Due to its robustness, the deltaflow has even been tested by TÜV and has passed the approval test for certification in accordance with the Federal Immission Control Ordinance for condensing, humid and dirty flue gases.

The result: an increase in billing accuracy of many thousands of euros per year

Other measurement methods, such as thermal, are often inadequate due to their poor accuracy and drift. With a typical air volume of 1000m3/h and an operating time of 330 days, the significantly better accuracy (1% instead of the typical 6% with thermal methods) of deltaflow dynamic pressure probes typically improves billing reliability from €14200 to €2300 - a difference of €19100 - per year.
